Terrestrial Snail Conservation
North Carolina had an estimated 230 native snail species. Snails play an important role in the decomposition of plants, leaves, wood, and bark. They also help move spores from fungus and other organisms to new locations. Additionally, they are a valuable food source to other species such as songbird and raptors. The majority of these species are at-risk species and need immediate support! Please consider supporting these efforts to increase research and conservation efforts!
