As a child, you may have played in creeks and streams, to catch minnows and other interesting animals such as mudpuppies! The Carolina mudpuppy as many call it, is the Neuse River waterdog. This species is only found in North Carolina, specifically in the Neuse and Tar river systems. They have been listed as a species of concern due to decreasing population numbers from destruction of and loss of habitat.
